Middle school students from Mott Hall Bridges Academy in Brownsville, Brooklyn returned to the Schier lab in their second annual trip to Harvard!
The students were transformed into scientists, and helped feed the fish in the zebrafish facility, set up mating experiments, watched embryos developing under the microscope, compared mutant and wild-type embryos, and watched zebrafish with fluorescent blood cells beating their hearts under a fluorescent microscope. They worked with Tessa, Alyson, Alia Qatarneh from Harvard's Life Sciences Outreach and Stephen Allsop, a graduate student in the Tye lab at MIT.
It was a fantastic day!
